Dr. Herman Kurz was born in Iowa in 1886. He entered the University of Chicago in 1916 as a freshman at age 30 and received a BS degree in Botany. He also completed his M.S and Ph.D. degree at that institution in 1921 and 1922, respectively. In 1922, he came to the Florida State College for Women as Assistant Professor of Botany. The Florida State University (FSU) Curriculum Committee first met as the Florida State College for Women (FSCW) Curriculum Committee on January 30, 1931. It was "authorized to act on all matters pertaining to curriculum revision, interpretation, and unification." Dean, Florida State College for Women. Ella Scoble Opperman was born October 27, 1873, in New Haven, Ohio, and died in Tallahassee, Florida, on March 11, 1969. William George Dodd was born in Waynesville, Ohio, on April 9, 1874. He received his A.B. degree from Bethany College in 1893, and A.M. in 1908, and a Ph. D. in English Literature in 1911, both from Harvard University.
